The 7.4 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that occurred in Palu on September 28, 2018 at 18.02 WITA caused severe destruction in Palu, Donggala and Sigi, destroying hundreds of structures. At least thousand of people are confirmed dead after the disaster and more than 10,000 others injured, of which 4,612 were seriously injured

The massive earthquake that occurred in Lombok on August 5, 2018, with the strength of 6.9 magnitudes has claimed many victims and destroyed many local structures. The Indonesian Orthopedic Association has a role in helping victims from day one. So far there have been around 50 volunteer orthopaedic surgeons who have come down to help the victims. In addition, IOA also provides assistance in the form of orthopaedic instruments. Currently, IOA foundation has received donations from members and also from various sources, the IOA Foundation will arrange donations to the maximum to fulfil the needs of the Lombok earthquake victims.

2018 AAOS International Scholars Program supported by the Indonesian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) and other scholarship contributors for IOA members.
REMINDER: AAOS continues accepting applications for the 2018 AAOS International Scholars Program supported by the Indonesian Orthopaedic Association (IOA) and other scholarship contributors for IOA members.
As in previous years, the selected AAOS Scholars will travel to the United States in 2018 to participate in an AAOS hands-on cadaveric orthopaedic surgical skills course in the Orthopaedic Learning Center in Rosemont, Illinois and have a 5-day observership at a leading US hospital. The scholarship award covers the course registration and most of travel expenses.
